Te Ara Korowai Wellbeing Centre
Te Ara Korowai is a community based creative wellbeing centre on the Kapiti Coast in New Zealand. We provide a variety of activities for people undergoing mental health challenges, isolation issues and intellectual disabilities. We operate as a peer led service for vulnerable members of our local community, providing them a safe and inclusive environment to connect and participate in creative and well-being classes. This is a huge benefit for those in our community facing mental health challenges, as well as those who feel isolated, and those who live with intellectual disabilities. Our service reduces isolation and mental health distress in those who attend, which in turn positively impacts our whole community. We were able to support our members on their path to recovery, seeing several able to transition from attending classes back to their place in the communities, allowing space for new members who need support to attend. We are a not-for-profit community organisation and rely on grants and donations to continue to operate and offer our services to those in our community who need them. We work towards reducing stigma and discrimination wherever it exists, by promoting an inclusive community. Te Ara Korowai Wellbeing Centre is a peer support and well-being hub located in Raumati. Our workshops and events welcome all ages, backgrounds and abilities with a special focus on those facing mental health challenges or going through tough times.
Share your meditation skills by leading a weekly 45-minute session that helps support wellbeing and positive mental health in our community.
