The Kāpiti Business Chamber is an independent voice for local business, working at the intersection of community, public service, and private enterprise. The Chamber advocates for equitable decision-making, runs workshops and networking events like Business After 5, and helps build the relationships that support Kāpiti's economic growth and resilience.
As Secretary, you’ll be the person who keeps the Board’s mahi on track. Your tasks include:
● Checking in with the Chair and Board members before each meeting about business to add to the agenda
● Creating the meeting agenda
● Circulating all the documents needed for a meeting to the Board in a timely fashion
● Making sure there’s a quorum
● Writing the minutes and taking notes (an AI option could help with this)
● Recording any official votes
● Collating reports
● Extra duties around the time of the AGM
Having a dedicated Secretary would make a real difference to the smooth running of the Chamber. In return, you'll build governance experience, sharpen your organisation and communication skills, and get a front-row seat to the Kāpiti business community.
