The Treasurer provides steady financial stewardship for the Foodbank, ensuring that all income and expenditure are accurately tracked, monitored and clearly reported to the Board. This includes keeping a close eye on grants, following each funding agreement, and preparing straightforward reports that show how grant income is being used and what remains committed. The role also leads the preparation of the annual budget, working collaboratively with the Board and operational leads to ensure the organisation has a clear financial plan for the year ahead.
Each year, the Treasurer oversees the audit review process and completes the Foodbank’s Charities Services reporting, supported by the organisation’s accountants. As a Tier 3 charity, the Foodbank relies on the Treasurer to maintain the systems and information needed to meet its reporting obligations and to ensure that financial records remain accurate, secure and up to date. All financial activity is managed through Xero, with documents and records stored electronically in the Foodbank’s cloud environment and accessed through the Treasurer’s dedicated organisational email identity. This separation helps maintain professionalism and protects the integrity of the Foodbank’s information.
The Treasurer is not working alone. A Support Person is available to assist with specific tasks, and the arrangement is intentionally strengths‑based and collaborative. Tasks are shared in a way that reflects capacity, skill and availability, ensuring the Treasurer is well supported while maintaining clear accountability for the overall financial function
