Youth Board Representative

Join our Board and help strengthen rangatahi voice in Kāpiti!

Work Ready Kāpiti is looking for a community‑minded young person to join our Board as our Youth Representative. This is a volunteer role and a chance to influence the programmes, events, and opportunities we create to help rangatahi build skills, grow confidence, and connect with real‑world experiences across Kāpiti.

What you’ll do:

  • Bring a youth perspective to Board discussions and decisions
  • Share insights on what young people in Kāpiti need to feel prepared, supported, and confident stepping into life beyond school
  • Help shape events, workshops, and initiatives that build practical, real‑world skills
  • Represent the voices and experiences of your peers in a supportive governance environment

Requirements:

Who we’re looking for:

  • You might be a student, a recent school leaver, or a young person already exploring your next steps - what matters most is that you:

  • Are aged roughly 16–24

  • Live, study, or work in Kāpiti

  • Care about youth development, confidence‑building, and community connection

  • Are willing to learn, contribute, and grow in a governance role

  • Enjoy sharing ideas and speaking up for your peers

  • No previous Board experience is needed - we’ll support you to learn as you go.

  • A copy of your CV will be requested for this role.

A Police background check is required for this role.

  • Monthly Board meetings (approx. 2 hours)
  • Involvement in youth‑focused events or initiatives (approximately 4 a year)
