In an emergency volunteers may be needed for a diversity of volunteer roles throughout the Kāpiti community from labouring, coordination and care/welfare tasks. To be prepared before an emergency happens, Volunteer Kāpiti maintains a database of people who are happy to be contacted for assistance in the event of an emergency. You can change your details or opt out at anytime.
You must live in Kāpiti/Ōtaki and be 18 or over. We would love people with lots of different skills/backgrounds to register. Other requirements for specific emergency roles will depend on what is needed in an emergency as communicated to us by Civil Defence/Emergency Management or relevant lead response organisations. There is often a diversity of roles from leaflet drops to care/coordination and labouring. We will provide call outs for volunteer help with clear details of requirements. Of course, you can decline if you are unable to assist at that time.
This will depend on the role/emergency event. We will share time commitment details with you when the emergency role requests are made.
