Do you love to make delicious meals? Would you like to put your cooking skills to good use? Do you have good people skills? You could be the one! We are looking for a Volunteer Cook to help preparing a cooked lunch for a group of approx. 15 people, together with our visitors. Home4All is a community project where people with memory loss can enjoy their time at our home-based facility, feel supported and respected and have a meaningful day.
Therefore, our visitors will also be active in the kitchen helping with food preparation with you, to keep doing what they like to do and maintain their skills. The group lunch is a very important part of our day, where visitors, staff and volunteers come together to help prepare and share a meal. You will meet regularly with the manager to discuss meal plans and ingredient needs. Our visitors are helping with preparation of the meal and cleaning up.
Must have experience cooking for a group of people (approx 10 -16 people) and excellent hygiene practices. Able to make meals on a budget and adapt meals for the ingredients that are available (we have a wonderful vegetable garden on site). Good with people and an some understanding of dementia can help but is not a necessity.
Please check out our website Home4all.co.nz to find out more about our philosophy and what we do and we recommend you watch ‘The Restaurant that makes mistakes’ TV Show on TVNZ on demand to get an idea about the visitors at Home4All.
Shifts available Wednesday and/or Friday from 11am to approx 2.30pm (lunch to be ready at 1pm). You can choose to help with all shifts or choose the day/s that suit you best.
