Are you passionate about empowering communities and creating safer environments? Then this is the role for you! We need patrollers to increase community awareness and resilience as well as being an additional set of eyes and ears for the Police. Join this technically savvy team to help create a safer Otaki. Patrol routes are based on information provided by the local Police each week. This is a great role to gain experience if you are interested in joining the NZ Police. Comprehensive training for first three months on role, concluding with an open book 10 module test that needs to be passed before you are able to be added to the roster. Ongoing support will also be provided by training officer and national organisation.
Great observation and communication skills (both written and verbal). Physically fit, but also able to sit for entire shift (when necessary). Comfortable with technology as you will need to learn how to use the reporting software. Must have a Facebook profile or willing to open one (organisation communicates with their volunteers via a private Facebook page). A clean criminal record is also a must. Flexible, friendly, objective and able to interact with a wide variety of people.
Shifts are usually 4 hours long and can be either daylight, twilight or late night. To be arranged with supervisor.
