At Kaibosh Food Rescue, our incredible volunteers are the heart of everything we do. Every week, they show up with sleeves rolled and smiles ready — sorting rescued food with care, heading out on food rescue runs, and transforming bruised or imperfect produce into nourishing meals in our community kitchens.
What inspires us most is their unwavering commitment to reducing food waste and feeding people in need. These volunteers aren’t just filling boxes or chopping veg — they’re building a more compassionate and sustainable community.
One moment that really stands is when we were part of a big Kapiti Event and the volunteers got stuck into running the stalls and using their experience and aroha to fundraise for us, this is outside of their normal shifts and made a big impact.
We nominated them because they don’t just support our mission — they live it. Their mahi is quiet, constant, and deeply impactful. We simply couldn’t do it without them.
This team is special because they lead with aroha and show up with heart. Whether they’re rescuing, sorting, or cooking food, they bring energy, care, and teamwork to every shift.
They treat every item of kai with respect, knowing it will feed someone in need. They support each other like whānau and go the extra mile — not because they have to, but because they believe in making a real difference.
