Good Bitches Baking - Kāpiti Volunteers - 2023 Volunteer Story Comp

Our weekly group programme for people with life-limiting illnesses at Mary Potter Hospice in Kapiti provides attendees with opportunities to have fun and connect with others in a similar situation. The group always begins with morning tea made up of the delicious baking provided by the “Good Bitches Baking” volunteers.

Starting the day with the baking from GBB is a lovely way to begin the group. Connecting with food is an important and special ritual and one we have found to be very therapeutic. There is a huge difference between a packet of biscuits versus treats that are baked with love. It is a way to express care and kindness and really supports the philosophy of care we are able to offer as part of our hospice day unit group.

The Good Bitches have been supporting our group at the hospice by providing weekly baking since they set up their baking volunteer chapter in Kapiti, and all of the baking we have received has been fantastic.

We would like to say thank you for their outstanding baking which makes such a difference to patients in our service who are living with life limiting
illnesses.

Every week a different volunteer baker provides yummy baking for morning tea for our group with a lovely story about the baking attached and a
message of kindness.
