Cobwebs Trust - Sheila & Tony Hart (Cobblers Soup Lunch Team)
Tell us why the volunteer or team of volunteers inspired you to nominate them.
Sheila identified several years ago that in Ōtaki there are a lot of people who just need a bowl of soup and a chat. Her & her husband Tony set up the community lunch, they get their vegetables, bread rolls etc. donated & they make several different varieties of soup every week and "give it" to those who turn up. (Thursday is soup day) If the recipients choose to give a koha that's ok, if they don't that's ok too. They now have a team of volunteers helping, sometimes offering 6 or more different flavours, they cater for sometimes 50 or 60 people and they now deliver to those who enjoy the soup but can't get to the hall. Two very selfless people who only want to do good in their community.
What makes the volunteer or team of volunteers special?
Their aroha for their community.
