Do you enjoy crafting, sewing, or weaving and want to share your skills with others? The Shed Project Ōtaki is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Volunteer Tutor to lead our weaving and sewing classes, helping participants build practical skills, confidence, and a love for crafts. As a Tutor, you’ll plan and deliver engaging, hands-on classes for people of all abilities. You’ll guide participants through projects, offer encouragement, and foster a supportive, inclusive environment where everyone can learn and express themselves creatively.

Requirements:
  • Experience and skills in sewing, weaving, or textile crafts
  • Patience, flexibility, and a supportive teaching approach
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm for fostering creativity and confidence in others
  • Reliability and teamwork

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Classes are currently held from 9am to 12.30pm weekly on Wednesday (the day of the week can be changed to suit the Tutor) at the Ōtaki-Māori Racing Club rooms.
