Treasurer

The Waikanae Music Society is dedicated to bringing world-class classical music to our local community. They promote high-quality concerts by professional performers, nurture young people’s interest and talent in classical music, and strive to keep ticket prices accessible for those on limited or fixed incomes.

To continue offering high-quality concerts and supporting the next generation of musicians, we’re looking for an organised and community-minded Treasurer to join their committee.

As Treasurer, you’ll play an important part in keeping the society running smoothly and sustainably. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing receipts and payments
  • Maintaining accurate financial records
  • Reporting the financial performance of each concert (8 per year)
  • Preparing budgets and supporting financial planning
  • Providing performance reports at committee meetings (10 per year)
  • Arranging a financial statement review (not a full audit) at the end of the year

Why Join Us?
You’ll be part of a friendly, committed committee that values music, community, and accessibility. You will receive free admission to all concerts! Your contribution will help ensure that classical music remains vibrant, professional, and affordable for people across the Kāpiti Coast. If you’d like to use your financial skills to make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you.

Requirements:
  • Comfortable working with numbers and basic accounting processes
  • Detail-focused and reliable
  • Able to communicate financial information clearly to the committee
  • Supportive of the arts and passionate about classical music (bonus, not essential!)
Time commitment:

10 committee meetings per year. Meetings are currently held on Tuesdays 2 weeks before a concert (depending on when the concert is booked). This can be changed to another day if needed. Time of meeting can be flexible
