Ōtaki Heritage Trustees

Ōtaki Heritage is a volunteer-led charitable trust which has for almost twenty years been dedicated to preserving and promoting the unique heritage, culture and history of Ōtaki and the surrounding region. They are looking for new Trustees to join their governance team and guide its mission of preserving and promoting the region’s unique heritage, culture, and history.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on Ōtaki Heritage’s ability to tell the community’s stories and to collect and protect taonga/treasures that are central to the telling of those stories. We welcome applications from people who bring a strategic mindset, community focus, and relevant sector expertise to the governance of the organisation.

Requirements:

Ideal candidates will demonstrate one or more of the following competencies:
• Governance experience, preferably in the not for profit and community sectors.
• Enthusiasm for making a contribution to the community
• Ability to be flexible around the requirements of the work
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
• Experience in developing and implementing IT strategy would be particularly valued

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Board meetings are currently held monthly, at 10am on the second Wednesday of the month. They usually last for around an hour. In addition to meeting preparation and attendance, Trustees can expect to be asked from time to time to on a range of trust related activities.

The term is for a period of at least three years, with Trustees being elected at each AGM; the next one being 12 October 2025.
