Weed Management Volunteer

The Whareroa Guardians Community Trust is dedicated to protecting and restoring the natural ecosystems of Whareroa Farm, a treasured reserve between Paekākāriki and Paraparaumu. They are looking for passionate volunteers to assist in the management of Tradescantia (wandering willie), a fast-spreading invasive weed that threatens native forest regeneration.
Tasks include:

  • Hand pulling the weeds and removing them from the area (no spraying involved)
  • Monitoring areas for regrowth or re-infestation
Requirements:

Physical tasks, must be able to bend over.
Good balance and stability on slippery slopes.

Time commitment:

Working bees are held on Tuesday mornings but the role can be done at anytime that suits you.
