Do you enjoy working with children and want to support a local school community? Paekākāriki School is seeking a caring and reliable volunteer to assist with safely escorting a small group of students (approx. 5 students) who travel from out of school area each day. These students catch the train from Paraparaumu to Paekākāriki and then walk the short distance to school.

In this volunteer role, you will meet the students at Paraparaumu train station in the morning, accompany them on the short train ride to Paekākāriki, and walk with them to school. This role plays an important part in supporting student wellbeing, offering reassurance to both children and their families by providing a familiar and trusted presence during their commute. It also helps reduce reliance on car travel, lowering carbon emissions, easing congestion around schools and encourages sustainable habits in children from a young age.

Requirements:

You should enjoy working with children, be punctual, and have good communication skills. Reliability is essential. A police vetting check is required for this position.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Ideally you can help twice a week between 8am and 9am Monday to Friday during term time. Your train fare cost will be covered by the school.
