Are you passionate about gardening and connecting with nature? Want to make a positive impact on the community? We need your green thumbs to help maintain and enhance our vegetable garden and plant nursery, set in 3.5 hectares of picturesque land in Otaihanga.
At Hōhepa Wellington we provide 24/7 active support to individuals with intellectual disabilities. By encouraging participation in a wide range of educational, sporting, cultural and community activities we support each person to live a full and happy life, whatever that means to them. Our onsite vegetable garden and nursery are special spaces enjoyed by the people we support, and we are looking for volunteers with good gardening skills to help support the work our team has started. Our values of sustainability, connection, whakamana (empowerment), responsiveness, and tika and pono (integrity) guide everything our service does.
Gardening tasks include supporting our Nursery and Garden Lead with:
Good gardening knowledge. No professional gardening experience required—just a love for plants and nature!
Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors
A positive and open attitude to the people we support and to enjoy working as part of a team.
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
Flexible. We are looking for people who can commit on a regular basis, but days and times have a degree of flexibility.
