Staying Safe Driving Refresher Course Facilitator

Age Concern Kāpiti provide free "Staying Safe Driving Refresher" courses to people over 60 in the Kāpiti region, helping them to re-familiarise themselves with traffic rules, safe driving practices and build confidence on the roads. We are looking for an experienced volunteer Facilitator or Trainer to deliver these courses, and facilitate discussions and (classroom based) group activities. The courses are held every 6 weeks and are 4 hours in length.

The courses material is already developed and has been approved by Waka Kotahi- New Zealand Transport Agency. Full training and ongoing support will be provided by Age Concern Kāpiti staff.

Requirements:

Excellent communication skills and a clear speaking voice.
Ability to bring content to life for the participants and guide them though group discussions.
Good timekeeping skills.
Patient and friendly.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Initial hours required for learning the course.
The courses are delivered once every 6 weeks. Course time is 4 hours (with 30 mins either side for setting up and down), usually between 10am and 2pm.
Dates to be confirmed depending on your and the venues availability. Venues are in Paraparaumu, Waikanae and Ōtaki.
