Otaihanga Zero Waste work with the community to revalue, reuse and repurpose construction and demolition waste. They aim to keep timber out of landfills and need your help to make this happen! This role involves sorting, de-nailing, processing, cutting and stacking of timber.
Key tasks:
• Sort timber in loads for processing
• Process timber with the use of power and hand tools ready for reuse, recycling or landfill.
• Stack and sort timber into categories for storage and reuse.
• Carry out all activities within the guidelines set out by Otaihanga Zero Waste’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
• Competence with power tools – Training and PPE will be given. Must have a strong safety conscious attitude
• Physical Capability to lift timber and other materials, and to work outdoors (undercover)
• Works well within a team and able to use initiative
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Volunteers to be at least 16 years or older to apply
Shift available weekly Wednesday 10 am- 12 pm (able to commit to a minimum of 3 months service)
