Do you have a good understanding of everyday technology (such as navigating phones, tablets, email etc)? Are you patient and understanding towards seniors? Digital Seniors are looking for Tech Coaches to support and empower seniors to confidently use their devices to stay in touch with loved ones, access information online and use services such as internet banking and online shopping.
As a Tech Coach you will be part of a fun and friendly team of volunteers, providing 1:1 support to seniors at weekly Hubs, held at Paraparaumu , Waikanae and Ōtaki Libraries. Our hubs are social learning spaces for seniors to receive free one-on-one coaching and support using their devices in a positive, fun and social environment. No matter what seniors want to do online, such as connecting with friends and whanau, sending photos, paying bills or shopping, we’re here to help teach them how to do it so they can feel confident enough to do it by themselves.
Volunteer induction and handbook will be provided. Volunteers will be supported by the Service Lead and other volunteers at the Hubs.
Patient, calm and friendly. Enjoy engaging with older people. No previous coaching experience or expert IT knowledge required. Just a good understanding of everyday technology (phones, tablets, laptops, email, internet) and the ability to navigate technology to ask questions (eg use Google to find the answer to how to solve an IT issue).
Hub Sessions are held weekly and we are looking for volunteers for the following days and locations:
You can choose which session/location works best for you.
