Kilns at Te Horo Site Host

Mirek Smisek’s iconic beehive kilns at Te Horo were a hub of ceramic excellence for more than 40 years. The Trust are building on his legacy by preserving the kilns, restoring the land and buildings and becoming a unique community hub again – for future inspiration, education and celebration. There is native bush to explore, a resident potter working on site, and will be kiln-openings, exhibitions, events and more through out the year.
Volunteers are needed on open days to open the gate, help visitors feel welcome and accept a small donation from visitors.
As a volunteer at the Kilns, you will be part of a team helping to celebrate the legacy of Mirek Smisek and creating future inspiration. Other volunteer opportunities are available with The Mirek Smisek Trust if you are interested in doing more.
