Usher

Do you have an interest in the performing arts and enjoy working with the public? Become a Volunteer Usher at Te Raukura ki Kāpiti Performing Art Centre! Ushers are the welcoming face when you arrive at an event. From scanning tickets to helping people find their seats, you'll work with a great Front of House team to make sure patrons have a safe and enjoyable theatre-going experience. As an Usher you will get exposure to great shows and events, and a sense of community as part of the Front of House whānau. If you have a friendly outgoing nature, willingness to work with the public, and ideally an interest in the performing arts, we would love to hear from you!
Training will be provided.

Requirements:

Great communication skills and technologically minded (able to use ticket scanning devices and help people to find their electronic tickets on phones etc). Must be able to stand and stay alert throughout shifts. Clearing glassware and waste from auditorium and quick vacuuming following event.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Shifts are dependent on show scheduling. Most are evenings and weekends but there is often weekday matinees and events on offer. Ideally, you can commit to two events per month. Shifts start 45 minutes before a show and end when the auditorium is clear of patrons and rubbish. Often 3-4 hour shifts.
