Are you keen to contribute towards creating a safer community in a practical way? We are looking for patrollers to increase community awareness and resilience and to be an additional set of eyes and ears for the Police. The patrol area includes suburbs between Paekakariki and Otaihanga. This role is a great way to gain experience if you are interested in joining the NZ Police.
You will receive an initial orientation session followed by 3 patrols with experienced patrollers. After this a 10 module training manual is then completed by volunteer and ongoing training will be provided by the Patrol Training Officer as required.
Good observation and communication skills (both written and verbal) as you will need to report results to the Police at the end of each patrol. A reasonable level of fitness with the ability to complete 4 hour patrols. A clean criminal record and current drivers license are a must. You will always be partnered with another patroller so reasonable interpersonal skills are an advantage.
Reliable, friendly, objective and able to interact comfortably with a variety of people.

Our patrols does railway station duty between 3pm-5.30pm weekdays
Day patrols go anytime from 10am onwards depending on the time the patrollers choose for four hours
Evening patrols usually go from 7pm onwards. four hour stints. some may prefer a late shift going from 10pm - 2am but that would be the choice of the people patrolling at that shift.
Our times are very flexible. One shift per month is the minimum requirement
