KIT was established as a Charitable Trust in 2006 with the dream to build a life-giving legacy for the Kapiti Coast Community. We want to be a major resourcer and facilitator of initiatives that benefit the people of the Kapiti Coast. The Trust is based on Christian values & principles and so we believe that we have a responsibility to be actively and positively involved in the Kapiti Coast community - meeting needs and creating opportunities for growth and development. Our dream is to serve the people of the Kapiti Coast by encouraging, alongside other organisations, the Kapiti Coast to be a great place to live, work and play - a place where people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds are valued and respected; a place that is safe and friendly; a place where the community’s soul is healthy and prosperous; a place where the environment is enjoyed and preserved; a place where children, young people & adults thrive and are given hope and purpose for their future. We have established Impact Hub through which we run the Incredible Years Parenting Programme (a 14 week Ministry of Education programme) and Kapiti Allsorts (a programme which helps children understand mental illness when it affects their family). Now also have taken responsiblity for the running of the Challenge for Change Mentor programme, which is an early intervention mentoring programme that works on a strengths based approach. Young people aged between 9 and 13 are matched with a mentor who acts as a positive role model.
