The Predator Free Raumati group was set up in February 2024, under the umbrella of the Raumati South Residents Association and covers the area covered by the Raumati Community Board . They have supported us financially as well as Predator Free NZ.
The team does a variety of tasks to help bring back the birds and other native animals to Raumati. These include set up community hui and being there to provide advice and sell traps, email communications, logging on to Trapnz (which collects the data), Facebook posts and administration to publicise huis and keep the local trappers motivated, provide expert trapping advice at huis or on a one to one basis, help people set up possum traps as well as rat traps, cut up recycled fence posts (and remove the nails ) to make the trap tunnels , make the tunnel traps, order traps ,deliver traps, keep track of our finances and other tasks.
Our volunteers are people from a very diverse background with a variety of knowledge and available time have come together to make this community project grow and flourish as we work towards Predator Free 2025 . They all add enormous value to our project. Thank you all!
