Do you want to use your time and energy to make a difference in the lives of others? Want to add something that looks awesome on your CV? Or just find a fun way to give back to your community?

StarJam is a not-for-profit organisation where young New Zealanders with disabilities unleash their potential through the magic of music, dance, and performance! Our weekly music workshops connect children and young people with their passions, peers and wider community. There is no musical ability required- just the right attitude!

We're currently looking for volunteers to join our team in Kapiti for 2023!

The workshops are held on evenings during the school term from 6:15pm-8:15pm, so this best suited to someone who can commit to regular involvement, one night per week during the school term. Our current vacancies are for Wednesday evenings.

Our Volunteers:
• Form meaningful connections
• Are led by a music tutor in a team
• Help with set up, pack down, and other necessary tasks
• Must be 18 years or over (due to health and safety reasons when working with young people with disabilities)
• Are provided training and support

If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, please get in touch!

This role is also an excellent chance to get volunteer hours for any courses you might be doing at uni!

Requirements:

No dance or performance experience required, just a fun and friendly personality! Volunteers must be over 18 for health and safety reasons when working with vulnerable young people.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

6:15pm-8:15pm on Wednesdays during school terms.
