Our free Mentor Programme starts this June. If you are currently on a community board/committee in Kāpiti and want to further your learning and leadership in this sector – register your interest with us now!
As part of the Capable Sector project, we are excited to be partnering with Mentoring Foundation NZ and the National Strategy for Community Governance Project to offer this brand-new programme.
We recognise that Kāpiti has a diversity of knowledge and experience in community governance, with many new to governance, but equally we have many people with experience to share. We want to create an opportunity for people to share this knowledge, with a programme that is flexible to cater towards everyone’s individual leadership needs. We will match you with a mentor that is the best fit for you and your community organisation.
'Mentoring is a relationship that supports and encourages the leadership journey of individuals and their organisations'
The programme includes a training/orientation event, 6 mentoring sessions with your mentor, learning support and access to resources using nationally developed material from Mentoring Foundation NZ.
Mentoring can have a significant and ongoing impact for the mentee, their organisation and the wider community, as evidenced from feedback from Mentoring Foundation NZ previous programmes:
"The mentor/mentee match was perfect. His networks and experience in the sector allowed us to have extremely clear, effective and rewarding outcomes."
"Having other people to encourage and support me in what I was doing made me feel like my ideas had some value. My mentor was very encouraging and supportive and helped me to network in the community to achieve my goals."
I look at problems differently. I have network groups where I can discuss scenarios. I have developed a good working relationship with governance and staff. I look after myself and celebrate success."
Note Applications to be a Mentee for the June 2021 programme have now closed. But do contact us if you are interested in being part of a future programme.
If you are experienced in Governance and would like to be a mentor for the June programme or future programmes, more information and registration can be found here.
